MXL’s Flagship Tube Mic with Sweepable Polar Patterns
Years ago, MXL set out to create the ultimate tube microphone: the Revelation. No corners were cut and no stones were left unturned in MXL’s pursuit of sonic excellence. The MXL Revelation II reimagines this popular mic using modern, more reliable, and more sustainable components to create a longer-lasting centerpiece of your studio. This tube condenser microphone has been built to pass the most rigorous audio applications with flying colors. From pop vocals to classical brass, the Revelation II is a potent workhorse. Its gold-sputtered, 6-micron K47 twin capsules are borrowed from a reigning champ of the audio world that is acclaimed for its velvety vocal pickup and larger-than-life presence. Enhanced with MXL’s EF86 pentode circuitry, the Revelation II springs to life with bell-like harmonics and reinforced, clean fundamentals as you dial up the tube character. The MXL Revelation II’s power supply features a continuously variable polar pattern that spans roomy omnidirectional and figure-8 types as it buckles down to a tight, lead vocal–tickling cardioid pickup. The power supply also has a 125Hz highpass filter to help tame proximity effects on singers and trim fat on bass instruments. On the rear of the mic is a -10dB pad switch to help prevent overages caused by loud sound sources like screaming guitar amps and explosive kick drums. Ensuring your signature sound is within reach on fly dates, the Revelation II ships in a heavy-duty locking aluminum flight case with cutouts for the included power supply, premium 7- and 3-pin Mogami cables, and shockmount.
Authentic tube character
Some of our favorite studio vocal mics have been regarded for their clean, character-rich tube circuitry. The MXL Revelation II responds in kind with an internal EF86 tube to supply rich harmonics and fat, full fundamentals.
Variable polar pattern
Whether it’s an intimate vocal or an explosive drum room you’re attempting to capture, the Revelation II’s continuously variable polar pattern has you locked and loaded for cardioid, figure-8, and omni pickups — along with all stops in between.
