The engine inside the heavy duty, full metal chassis of the Blofeld delivers the same fat and rich sound that so many Waldorf users worldwide love when they play their Pulse, Q, Q+, Micro Q, Microwave, Microwave II/XT, or even the flagship Wave.

Yes, you've heard it right. The Blofeld is not only capable of producing these warm, organic analog sounds known from the Q synthesizer line, it also sports a wavetable engine like its predecessors with "Wave" in their names.

This unique synthesis system is based upon the revolutionary PPG Wave synthesizers of the early 80s. So when you listen to the Blofeld for the first time, you will instantly recognize those edgy, hard-hitting and bell-like timbres that have been an integral part of so many world hits from the PPG era on, and become increasingly popular once more.

In fact it is amazing to realize that nowadays this complex technology fits into such a slim and elegant device. And for a price no-one would have imagined a couple of years ago.

Oscilators
Each of the three oscillators offers authentic circuit-models of analog waveforms: Pulse with variable pulse-width, sawtooth, triangle and, as found in relatively few analog synthesizers these days, sine wave.Furthermore, oscillators 1 and 2 feature the two wavetables that were introduced by the Waldorf Q and appeared shortly thereafter in the Micro Q series.
Not only that, the Blofeld includes all ROM Wavetables from the mighty flagship Waldorf Wave as well as Microwave II/XT. Plus, lo and behold, the desperately requested "Upper Wavetable" from the good old PPG Wave! But, for the first time in the history of Waldorf and PPG, each of these two oscillators can have its own wavetable.

What's more, you have control over the brilliance of these wavetables, which is especially important for waves with lots of harmonics in the bass end. You decide if you prefer pure and perfect harmonics or the same edgy timbre you know and love from the earlier Waldorf and PPG synthesizers.
Brilliance also affects the sawtooth and pulse oscillator models. From warm and soft (for those typical L.A. string pads) to the hard shapes you need for punchy and biting bass sounds. But note, Brilliance is not a simple filter applied after the oscillators, the model itself is modified.
Each of the three oscillators can be frequency-modulated by any of the other oscillators, the noise generator or one of the LFOs. With low FM amounts, you can add a little dirt to the oscillator sound, with higher amounts you get typical FM effects.
On top of all that, oscillator 2 can be hard-synced to oscillator 3.

Ring Modulation
Oscillators 1 and 2 can be ring-modulated to create bell-like or metallic sounds, eerie sound effects as well as pumping basses and leads.
The noise generator delivers white noise that can be filtered low or high pass, depending on the Noise Colour setting.
The three oscillators, the ring modulator and the noise generator can be freely mixed into filter 1 and filter 2. This allows fine control over the harmonic content of each of the tone generators.

The Blofeld has a gorgeous user interface with a huge graphic display giving you precise visual feedback. Seven endless rotaries plus a volume knob all made of steel invite you to explore the depth and power of Blofeld.

Selecting Sounds
Selecting sounds is a breeze. If you just want to browse through the available sounds, use the dial above the Play button. If you want to jump to a different soundbank, use the left dial under the display. Selecting a category with the right dial (under the display) causes Blofeld to show only sounds belonging to that particular category.

Spectre
Spectre is a tool for creating and transferring Sample Content for Waldorf Blofeld with License SL and Waldorf Blofeld Keyboard.

Both are synthesizers with the additional ability to play back Samples.

If you have none of the above, you are still welcome to explore Spectre and fantasize what it would be like to own one of the above instruments. Spectre is a free application available for Windows PC and Mac.

License SL Sample Option
License for activating the sample memory of the Blofeld desktop synthesizer.

License SL greatly expands the sonic potential of every Blofeld desktop. With this license installed, 60 megabytes of sample flash memory become available for factory and user samples. These samples and multisamples go through Blofeld´s vast synthesis engine just like the standard oscillators. And like the oscillators, samples can be used as an FM source or destination. You can also apply ring modulation, dual filters and overdrive to go far beyond traditional sample playback technology.

License SL offers an extensive set of factory samples.

The complete administration for own sample content will be done by the free SPECTRE application

The Blofeld Desktop Synth Module by Waldorf features Waldorf's legendary Analog Modeling Technology and 60 MB of onboard sample memory.

Unless otherwise stipulated , the provisions of the statutory liability for defects shall apply. Deviating therefrom, the following shall apply to contracts for the delivery of goods:

If the Client acts as trader – the Seller may choose the type of subsequent performance, – for new goods, the limitation period for claims for defects shall be one year from delivery of the goods, – for used goods, the rights and claims for defects are excluded, – the limitation period shall not recommence if a replacement delivery is made within the scope of liability for defects.

If the Client acts as a consumer, the following applies to contracts for the delivery of used goods subject to the restriction of the following clause: The limitation period for claims for defects is one year from the delivery of the goods if this was expressly and separately contractually agreed between the parties and it the Client was specifically informed of the shortening of the limitation period before submitting his contractual declaration.

The above-mentioned limitations of liability and shortening of the period of limitation do not apply – to claims for damages and reimbursement of expenses of the Client, – if the Seller has fraudulently concealed the defect, – for goods which have been used in accordance with their customary use for a building and which have caused its defectiveness, – for any existing obligation of the Seller to provide updates for digital products with respect to contracts for the supply of goods with digital elements.

Furthermore, for traders, the statutory limitation periods for any statutory right of recourse that may exist shall remain unaffected.

If the Client is a businessperson pursuant to section 1 of the German Commercial Code (HGB) he has the commercial duty to examine the goods and notify the Seller of defects pursuant to section 377 HGB. Should the Client neglect the obligations of disclosure specified therein, the goods shall be deemed approved.

If the Client acts as a consumer, the forwarding agent has to be immediately notified of any obvious transport damages and the Seller has to be informed accordingly. Should the Client fail to comply therewith, this shall not affect his statutory or contractual claims for defects.

Music Red One offers free shipping on orders that exceed $200; however, reserves the right to charge additional shipping fees for the following delivery services:

  • Shipment that requires a tailgate delivery but was not mentioned prior to the delivery.

RETURNS

  • All returned opened items are subject to a min 15% to maximum 25% restocking fee.
  • All returned items can take up to 10-14 days to be processed.
  • If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, returns will be accepted for store credit (less restocking fee & shipping) within 30 days of invoice date.
  • RED ONE Music will accept returns for defective goods that you have ordered from us within 30 days of invoice date for exchange only.
  • All Returns must contain all associated packaging and materials (ie accessories, manuals, wires, etc). Merchandise that is not returned in brand-new condition, including damages, abuse, marks, showing wear, or with missing packaging or accessories, will be subject to additional charges. Shipping and Handling charges (delivery and return) are non-refundable, including any shipping fees not directly incurred that are part of a free shipping promotion. Any items packaged with software, including but not limited to, DJ Controllers, Audio Interfaces, etc., must be returned with the original software disc including serial number and proof of deactivation.
  • Returns or exchanges will not be accepted for the following types of products: Customized, special order, used products, clearance products, expendable items, cartridges, replacement lamps/bulbs, opened computer hardware, rigging supplies, tape, needles, cleaner kits, effect fluid or juice, software, gels, music, displays/televisions/monitors or parts (replacement, repair or item components) - these products are final sale.
  • Returns or exchanges for the following items will only be accepted if they are in factory sealed packaging due to hygienic reasons: headphones & microphones.
  • All returns made MUST be authorized in advance by a customer service representative - and paper work dispatched to you via email. Your RMA form must be included in the box and your RMA number located on the waybill / packaging. Any returned items that arrive without prior approval or missing documentation may be rejected by our shippers. Once received, returns will be processed within 5 business days.
  • If your parcel was damaged in transport, please visit our Help Center and submit a ticket with your order number and include a picture of the exterior of the box, the interior of the box, and of the damaged product. No claims will be accepted without these pictures.
  • If you happen to receive a parcel that got damaged during transport, we must obtain the the following pictures in order to swiftly process a replacement:
    - outside of the shipping box along with a photo of the shipping label
    - inside packaging of the shipping box
    - the damaged unit itself
  • Refunds by e-transfer will be issued to the email address that is associated with your customer profile. The password will be sent to you in a separate email once the refund has been issued. Please note that a $5 service fee will be deducted from your total refund amount if:
    • e-transfer is not accepted in 15 calendar days
    • a change of email address is requested once the e-transfer has already been sent
    • a typo or error has been made in the email address that is associated to your customer profile

        • RED ONE Music is an authorized retailer for each of the brands available on our website. As such, your purchase is authorized for the manufacturer's warranty in Canada.

        In store pick-ups

        • To be eligible for a store pick-up, please review the criteria below:
        • If your order is paid by credit card, you then qualify for a store pick-up. Note that once you pick-up your order, you must present a valid government photo ID as well as the original credit card used during the purchase. The name and address must match the name and billing/shipping address associated to the order.
        • If your order is paid by e-transfer, you then qualify for a store pick-up. You must present a valid government photo ID to match the name appearing on the e-transfer information.
        • If your order is paid by Paybright, you then qualify for a store pick-up. You must present a valid government photo ID to match the name appearing on the Paybright application.
        • Please note that all orders paid using PayPal will not qualify for store pick-up. If you paid by credit card using the PayPal platform, this payment method will also not qualify for store pick-up. 

        In-Store Pickup

        All orders that are picked-up in store must sign the release form acknowledging the reception of your
        order. Note that Music Red One may request to take a copy of your government photo ID to add to this
        acknowledgement form.
