Reed Rotation and Care Great players change their reeds each time they play (they call it “rotating” them). Then, they carefully store them in a protective case to keep them in perfect shape. That way, each reed will sound better and last longer. Try it yourself, and you’ll notice the difference, too!

Using the Reed Protector

Keep your reeds in playing shape. Just insert your reed into the protector, and it will be safe until the next time you’re ready to play. 

It’s easy to find a Juno reed that feels good to you – and makes you sound good too. If your’re just starting out, you may want to choose a 1 1/2 strength reed that’s more flexible and easier to play. As you get better, you may find that a stronger 3 strength reed gives you a heavier, fuller sound.
