The Legend
Few guitars can claim the legendary status of the 1950s Gibson Les Paul™ Standard. Acclaimed for their beauty, playability, and exceptional tone, they are among the most sought-after vintage guitars on the planet, having been seen in the hands of countless artists on concert stages worldwide and featured on numerous hit recordings. Today, Epiphone is proud to introduce the new Les Paul Standard 50s, an Inspired by Gibson tribute that lovingly recreates the feel and sound of these fabulous 1950s instruments. The long-standing collaboration between Epiphone and Mr. Les Paul began in 1940 when he built one of the world's first solid-body electric guitars while working the night shift at the original Epiphone factory in Manhattan. This model, nicknamed "the Log," would go on to inspire the Les Paul Standard, which many consider the greatest electric guitar ever made.
The Les Paul Standard 50s features a mahogany body and maple top, delivering the rich midrange of the original wood with a touch of brightness from the top of the guitar—essential to the signature sound of a Les Paul Standard. It also boasts a mahogany neck with a 1959 medium-C rounded profile and a long neck tenon for exceptional stability and resonance. The fingerboard is now rosewood with trapezoidal pearwood inlays and 22 medium-wide frets. The Kalamazoo headstock is equipped with Epiphone Vintage Deluxe tuners and a Graph Tech© nut to ensure the guitar stays in tune. The other string ends run over an Epiphone LockTone™ Tune-O-Matic™ aluminum bridge and are anchored with an aluminum LockTone Stop Bar tailpiece. This Les Paul Standard features a pair of critically acclaimed Epiphone ProBucker™ pickups, with a Model 1 in the neck position and a slightly warmer Unit 2 in the bridge position for balanced tone across all three switching positions. The pickups are connected to CTS© potentiometers with 1950s-style wiring, and the controls are topped with gold top-hat knobs with pointers. A high-quality soft case is included. This '50s Les Paul Standard is a fitting and accessible tribute to a legendary guitar and an instrument you simply must experience.
