The Gibson ES-335 is one of the greatest guitars of all time. Renowned for its exceptional versatility, it has been used by countless performers across a wide range of genres. Combining the best elements of both solid-body and hollow-body Thinline models, it's a highly resonant instrument that resists feedback much better than other hollow-body guitars thanks to its solid maple center block. Today, Epiphone, in collaboration with Gibson Custom, is proud to present the ES-335 1962 replica, a guitar heavily inspired by Gibson Custom's ES-335 models, but deliberately based on a year that the company doesn't currently produce: 1962. This era saw popular features such as rounded cutaways, small rectangular inlays, and a slim neck profile all present on the Gibson ES-335.
This model features a semi-hollow, 5-ply maple and poplar body with rounded cutaways and a solid maple center block for exceptional sustain and feedback resistance. The genuine one-piece mahogany neck boasts a slim, 1960s-style C-shaped SlimTaper™ profile and is topped with a rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium-wide frets and small rectangular mother-of-pearl inlays. The fingerboard has rounded edges for a comfortable, well-worn feel that invites you to explore it for hours. Even the side markers are the same size and position as on the 1962 ES-335. The Gibson-style "open book" headstock features the Epiphone logo and Gibson crown inlaid in aged mother-of-pearl. It is equipped with Epiphone Deluxe smooth-turning Keystone-style dual-ring tuners and a Graph Tech© nut.
An ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic™ bridge and period-correct aluminum Stop Bar tailpiece anchor the strings at the far end directly into the solid maple center block, contributing to the instrument's excellent sustain. On the electronics side, a pair of American-made Gibson Custombucker™ humbucker pickups are hand-wired with CTS© potentiometers and Black Beauty oil-paper capacitors, offering authentic tonal versatility. This makes this reproduction of the 1962 ES-335 a great choice for rock, blues, jazz, country, and more.
The 1960s Cherry Red and Retro Burst finishes feature a vintage sheen for an authentic, vintage look. A black "vintage" style case with a goldenrod-colored plush interior and an "Inspired by Gibson Custom" logo exterior is also included to help keep this beautiful guitar safe during storage and transport.
