High-Resolution Adaptive Multitrack Recorder

Powerful and portable, the Portacapture X6 from TASCAM is the streamlined version of the popular X8, redesigned and scaled back for videographers, podcasters, and content creators working on smaller productions. The compact size of the X6 makes it easy to position for numerous recording applications, while still retaining the ability to record up to six simultaneous tracks at 96 kHz / 32-bit floating point.

 

The stereo condenser microphone pair can be adjusted for A/B or X/Y configurations, depending on the desired stereo field width, and X6 sports plenty of connectivity, including two XLR input jacks with 24 or 48V phantom power, one 3.5mm stereo aux input with plug-in power, a stereo 3.5mm line output, and a USB-C port with 6x2 audio interface capability, just to name a few. The color touchscreen makes it easy to operate the X6 like an app, with an intuitive and colorful interface, and the recorder can be mounted on cameras and stands via its 1/4" slot for extra versatility. With up to 22 hours max battery life and the ability to take up to 512 GB microSDXC cards, the X6 will keep you creating for as long as your imagination allows, anywhere you want.

The Portacapture X6 hosts a range of connections that can handle small to moderate sized productions. Whether used as a high-resolution digital audio interface or an analog field recorder, the X6 delivers quality audio and intuitive operation.

When shooting a video, you want to be able to focus on your video production and not worry about your audio. The Portacapture X6 was built with video production in mind. The workflow, presets and user-saved settings save you countless steps. The X6 has your back with its 96 kHz / 32-bit float recording technology and its ability to capture audio in WAV (BWF) and up to 320 kb/s MP3.

 

Not only does this mean you will have the highest quality audio, but you will have a dynamic range that allows you to overcome those less-than-ideal realities that can often occur on a shoot. The X6 gives you a time-code sync and app control options via Bluetooth, allowing you to align your audio with your video, even when you have no audio on your camera. Capture Your Way

With its two built-in microphones, the Portacapture X6 is ready to record with a few quick taps. Have your own mics? You can use them thanks to the two included XLR inputs and mix them with the built-in mics for a highly portable four-microphone setup. Record six tracks (four track + two mix) simultaneously and even use the X6 as a 6-in/2-out USB audio interface to connect to your computer.

Control the X6 from Your Phone

In those cases where you want to put your audio recorder in one place and operate it from another, the X6 has you covered. With the AK-BT1 Bluetooth adapter (sold separately) it's easy to remote control your X6 wirelessly from your smartphone or tablet. This feature can unlock nearly endless possibilities and make operation more convenient when recording in the field or on-the-go.

Capture Every Bit

It would be great if every time you need to capture audio, everything is perfect. Not too loud, not too soft. Of course that is not the reality for most of us. The huge dynamic range and ample headroom of the X6 makes it a reality, allowing your dialog to go from a mumble to a scream with ease.

 

Even in these extremes, you are expected to capture the sound and deliver a clean result. The 32-bit float point recording technology in the Portacapture X6 gives you a much lower floor and higher ceiling to achieve audio success without distortion.

Ready-to-Publish Audio Anywhere

With the Portacapture X6, your audio will be ready to share. Built-in signal processing, including a compressor, limiter, high-pass filter, EQ, and reverb add that studio polish.

 

Whether you need to tame the wind when recording outside or want to add the ambiance of reverb to your vocals, the X6 has you covered. From smoothing out your input to preventing extreme peaks or eliminating plosives in dialog, you can count on the X6.

Your Virtual Audio Engineer

Getting your settings just right for your recording goals can be overwhelming, but not on the Portacapture X6. Select from the pre-perfected settings like Voice, Podcast, Music Recording, ASMR, and Field Recording.

 

Just select the one that applies and start to record. Each setting was carefully tuned by TASCAM audio engineers for the defined use case. They set it all up, so you don't have to.
