Few guitars can claim the legendary status of the Gibson Les Paul Standards from 1958 to 1960. Acclaimed for their beauty, playability, and exceptional tone, they are among the most sought-after vintage guitars on the planet, having been seen in the hands of countless artists on concert stages worldwide and featured on numerous hit recordings. Today, Epiphone is proud to introduce the new Les Paul Standard 60s, an “Inspired by Gibson” tribute that lovingly recreates the feel and sound of these fabulous retro instruments.

The long-standing collaboration between Epiphone and Mr. Les Paul began in 1940 when he built one of the world’s first solid-body electric guitars while working the night shift at the original Epiphone factory in Manhattan. This model, nicknamed “the Log,” would go on to inspire the Les Paul Standard, which many consider the greatest electric guitar ever made. This '60s Les Paul Standard features a mahogany body and figured maple top, delivering the rich midrange of the original wood with a touch of brightness from the top of the guitar—essential to the signature sound of a Les Paul Standard. The highly figured maple veneer gives it the striking appearance of a much more expensive guitar. It also boasts a mahogany neck with a SlimTaper (1960s-style) rounded medium-C profile and a long tenon for exceptional stability and resonance. The fingerboard is now rosewood with trapezoidal pearwood inlays and 22 medium-wide frets.

The Kalamazoo headstock is equipped with Grover Rotomatic tuners and a Graph Tech nut to ensure that the tuning stays put. The other ends of the strings run over an Epiphone LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and are anchored with a LockTone Stop Bar tailpiece. This Les Paul Standard features a pair of critically acclaimed Epiphone ProBucker pickups, with a Model 1 in the neck position and a slightly warmer Unit 2 in the bridge position for balanced tone in all three switching positions. The pickups are connected to individual volume and tone controls with high-quality CTS potentiometers; these are topped with gold-plated, top-hat-style knobs with pointers. A high-quality soft case is included. This '60s Les Paul Standard is a fitting and accessible tribute to a legendary guitar; it's an instrument you need to experience.
