Description

If you graduated from guitarist to studio engineer, and you have no idea what to do with all these stompboxes you spent years collecting, the Radial Engineering EXTC Stereo is the box for you. This little tank of a unit will be the go between from your studio-level gear to your instrument-level pedalboard. Use your favorite flanger as a mixing effect, or breathe new life into recorded DI (directly inputted) guitars by reamping them.

All the inputs and outputs you need are built into the box. You'll also find level controls on both the send and receive paths to properly gainstage your gear, so you get the optimum volume going into your stompboxes, and coming out from them as well. All of this will let you use your gear in exciting new ways.

How It Works

On the front panel, you'll find the instrument-level I/O jacks for your pedals. Send signal out to your pedals from the send jacks, and plug your pedals' outputs into the receive jack(s). On the rear is your combination balanced I/O, which feeds your studio gear. Now, you can use your pedals as an insert effect on any mix.

Interesting Controls

In addition to its I/O path, the EXTC Stereo offers level controls on both the send and return jacks, so you can drive your pedals as hard as you'd like, or attenuate the levels coming back from your pedalboard. A Dry/Wet Mix control lets you blend the dry and processed signals. Also, you can invert the polarity for extra tonal options with modulation effects, or for better sound when combining a dry DI with a reamped signal.

Mix with Your Guitar Pedals

The EXTC-Stereo gives you the ability to connect stereo stompboxes and effects pedals to the line-level I/O of your recording interface, console, or mixer. Use it to send drum overheads to a multitap delay, or breathe new life into a stale keyboard patch with a modulation effect. Dust off that old Moogerfooger and really put it to good use. Try it on vocals, strings, or any prerecorded track to add a new creative element to your mixes and revitalize your old pedal collection.

Stereo Reamping

Take a dry track, send it to the EXTC-Stereo, and it can now feed your pedals with signal. You can now reamp a guitar part, or add a new creative element to your mixes, all while taking new advantage of your old pedal collection.
