Description

The Fostex NF04R is a compact, active monitor designed to provide a detailed and balanced sonic image for critical listening and mixing in near-field environments—at home or in the studio. The monitor features a 4" HR-shaped woofer and a 0.75" UFLC soft-dome tweeter, each driven by dedicated Class-D amplifiers (30W and 20W respectively). The NF04R's design emphasizes accurate sound reproduction with surprisingly deep and tight bass for its size, thanks to technologies like UDR Tangential Edge and Push-Pull Damper, which eliminate speaker resonance.

Key features include adjustable woofer and tweeter levels, a gain switch for input-level matching, and both balanced XLR and unbalanced 1/4" TS inputs. The NF04R's compact dimensions and relatively light weight make it suitable for use on desktops and in smaller spaces.

  • Bi-amplification with high-performance D-Class amplifiers: It has a dedicated 30W amplifier for the woofer and a 20W amplifier for the tweeter, providing efficient and powerful drive.
  • Adjustable sound-pressure levels: You can adjust the bass level (-2, -4, -6 dB at 80 Hz) and the tweeter level (-2 dB) to suit your listening environment.
  • Adjustable gain: A gain switch (0/+10 dB) allows for matching the input level from various audio devices.
  • HR Diaphragm: This woofer diaphragm shape, derived from architectural structural mechanics, is lightweight, highly rigid, and effectively disperses resonance.
  • High-Precision resin-molded enclosure ensures a perfect fit and stability, with internal cushioning to prevent rattling.
  • Connectivity: Offers both balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (1/4" TS) inputs.
